Daniel's parents have retired to Sweden where they have bought a farm.
One day Daniel's father telephones and tells him his mother is not well and has left a mental hospital where she was being monitored.
Then his mother tells him that everything his father says is a lie.
The owner of my local pet shop recommended this to me. I’ve been meaning to read Rob Smith’s Child ’44 for ages. I thought his London Spy (BBC) was excellent. The Farm is an utterly gripping page-turner with surprising, poignant depths. Quietly devastating. Rob Smith seems to write with a maturity beyond his years.

I’m currently on a 7 book marathon of this author: (don’t laugh, I’m serious).
